Top Denture only

Posted: February 6, 2010 7:42 pm

Hi, I go wednesday to be fited for my top denture. I had all my top teeth pulled. I still have my lower teeth so no denture is needed there. My question is how hard is it to get use to the top plate? Also how long will it take me to get used to it in order to eat. I am three weeks out from having the top teeth pulled and it will take about three weeks to get the new one in so I should be fully healed by then.

thanks to anyone who responds :)

I don't know a answer about your post, sorry.  I wanted to vent about my problem about denture.. I dont have a denture but I want to get dentures so bad, but I cannot afford them.  Don't have dental insurance, I looked dental plans out there.  Almost all plans i saw that every tooth they pull....is an additional cost other than the actual denture.  Is that true..?  If you get dentures, do they give you a temporary denture before you get the actual denture.  I hope that someone will answer your question and my question.

Thank you.

I have had my dentures since 2004 on bottom and 2008 on top i wish i had had top and bottom done at the same time. it was just more expense to wait and had to fight through another infected tooth and pain. ever dentist i talked with would give me the you don't want to pull them yea. i was so sick of the root canal and filling and post repair i was done!! best thing i ever done, took me about 3 months on bottom to get to where i could eat good. had to relearn on top when i had them done but would go though it again any time just wish it was 10 years eariler and $30,000.00 sooner good luck!!!!!!!!!
