Question:  what is a softlinner? Will it help my gums not to be so sore from wearing my top denture i have full upper. I got my new denture a week and my gums are SO sore what can i do to help with the gums being sore.. many thank's Denise.

Thank you for contacting Fixodent Denture Living. A soft liner is placed in a new or old denture in order to help improve the health of your gum tissues by absorbing some of the pressures of mastication ( acts as a tissue conditioning material ). When you’re first fitted for new dentures, it’s normal to experience minor irritation, which should fade as your mouth becomes accustomed to them. The period of pain varies. If you’ve previously worn dentures and now have a new set it may take longer.

Similarly, if you had some natural teeth present that were removed at the time you got the new dentures, the areas where the extractions were performed may be painful or uncomfortable for up to several weeks after the removal of the teeth. Regular visits to your dentist or prosthodontist to adjust the dentures as you go through the normal healing process are recommended.

Question:  my question: what are the difference materials that dentures are made from, so that they will feel more natural

For instance, a set of complete dentures will replace all of the teeth in a mouth, while partial dentures can correct gaps in a smile and use adjacent teeth to lock themselves in place. These choices are something a dentist can help you with, so there is no need to discover by yourself the possibilities a good set of dentures can provide you.

Question:  please tell me you have not discontinued fixodent powder adhesive! My local Publix no longer carries it . This is the only product that really works for me and I have depended on it for decades. If so , and you have actually been dumb enough to make this error, and you have any left over please send it to me, I will buy it all.

Question:  do I soak dentures over night in water or not soak

Question:  how long does dentures last,i have broken mine twice while eating

Hi Marybeth,

There is no absolute lifespan for dentures. Some last up to thirty years. By this time they are quite badly worn but many patients remain happy with denture they have long been familiar with. The lower denture may be the first to get loose and require re-making or re-lining.
